“Chairman of the Board” (Tanny Busby) is originally from Ft. Worth, TX. (Hey…. IMT!!!); but now Houston is home. His musical background ranges from Bach to Jazz to R&B. He started out as a classical pianist at an early age. His travels took him all over the United States, participating in the International Van Cliburn Competitions and National Guild Playing Auditions (NPPA). By the way, this is how he got introduced to Houston.
The piano has always been his primary instrument. However throughout his musical career he develop skills on other instruments. He followed in his Dad’s footsteps by playing the Trumpet, then other brass instruments such as the Baritone, Trombone and Tuba. Then he went to Strings; Cello & String Bass. While in high school at IMT, he formed a Dance Band, their reputation became the talk of Cow-town. This is when “COB” began composing is original contemporary songs.
His professional musical career started by playing bass for local Houston Bands. During this period he did satellite recordings for producers affiliated with Motown and Philly. The next level came when Tanny joined the Toronados (recording band for Archie Bell’s “Tighten Up”); The Toronados were competing with a band out of Alabama called the “Commodores”- (You know their story).
He has appeared or toured with Johnny Taylor, James Brown, Sly ant the Family Stones, Whispers, Dells, Osmonds, Impressions, Red Fox, Michael Jackson, Gladys Knight; just to name a few.
Whether it’s Bach, Jazz or R&B; his playing styles provides the body & soul to SVK Vintage’s ~ “SOS Music with a Thump”.
